Following habitat hints: your guide to attracting Pokémon

Published 6/21/2026

Habitat hints are glowing collectibles scattered across every area in Pokopia that tell you exactly what to build to bring a new Pokémon home.

What is a habitat hint?

When you explore Pokémon Pokopia, keep an eye out for items with a faint rainbow sheen on the ground. These are habitat hints. Pick one up and the game describes a specific environment: a cluster of flowers, a patch of tall grass, a mossy log. That description is your blueprint for attracting a new Pokémon.

Finding hints in each area

Habitat hints appear across all four areas: Withered Wasteland, Bleak Beach, Sparkling Skylands, and Rocky Ridges. New hints can appear after you unlock a new area or complete a build milestone. Check every corner of a zone before moving on. Shiny spots are easy to miss near water edges and rocky walls, so slow down and scan low to the ground.

Building the habitat

Find the habitat in the Habitat Dex here on Pokpia Companion and add it to the Build Queue. Open the Build Queue and search for the items listed in the hint. Place them in your chosen zone. Decorations count toward a habitat score you can track in the Habitat Dex. A higher score increases your chances of attracting a rare or shy Pokémon. You do not need a perfect score on day one. Pokémon start visiting once you clear a minimum threshold.

Time of day matters

Some Pokémon only appear during specific windows. Pokopia uses real-world time across four periods: Morning (6 AM to 10 AM), Day (10 AM to 5 PM), Evening (5 PM to 8 PM), and Night (8 PM to 6 AM). If a Pokémon in your Habitat Dex is listed as nocturnal, check back after 8 PM. You do not need to keep the game open. Pokopia reads your device clock to decide when Pokémon visit.
