How to find Gyarados in Pokopia
Published 6/20/2026
Gyarados lives in the Sparkling Skylands. Here is exactly what you need to build to bring it to your island, and what it does once it arrives.
Where Gyarados lives
Gyarados is found in the Sparkling Skylands. It visits the Illuminated Waterfall habitat, which is habitat number 146 in the Habitat Dex. It is a common visitor, so once the habitat is up you will not have to wait long.
It appears at any time of day and in any weather. No special conditions required.
What you need to build
The Illuminated Waterfall needs four types of material:
- 3 Stepping Stones
- 2 Torches
- 3 Water blocks
- 1 Waterfall
These are not rare materials. Open the Build Queue and add the Illuminated Waterfall. The Shopping List will show you exactly how many of each you still need to gather.

What Gyarados brings to your island
Gyarados has the Water specialty. It waters your crops, cleans terrain, and helps plants thrive. If you are working on a farming section of your island, Gyarados is one of the most useful residents you can recruit.
It also teaches Ditto the Waterfall move, which lets you travel up vertical water streams. This opens up routes in Sparkling Skylands that are not accessible any other way.
How to make Gyarados comfortable
Gyarados prefers a humid environment. When decorating its habitat, lean into ocean and water themes. It likes:
- Water and waterfall items
- Ocean-themed decorations
- Breezes and open spaces
- Slender objects
- Spicy flavours for food gifts
The more your habitat matches these preferences, the higher its comfort score. A comfortable Gyarados is more active on your island.
Finding it in Pokopia Companion
Open the Pokédex and search for Gyarados. Tap its row to see which habitats it lives in and what it needs. If you have already added the Illuminated Waterfall to your Build Queue, the status shows there too. The Shopping List keeps track of all the materials across your whole queue so nothing slips through.
